Thomasfield entered their Sanctuary Condo into the category of Best Innovation Project and Project of the Year. We are extremely pleased to receive this award from the GDHBA, and wish to thank all of those involved in building these fantastic condominiums.

About the Sanctuary

The Sanctuary  is a premium multi-dwelling condominium unit that offers large square footage while simultaneously accommodating intensification requirements and energy conservation. It truly provides a luxurious urban living experience in the south-end of Guelph. Each building consists of 3 units, with the units on the second and third floor having their own private elevator access. All units offer basements which can easily function as a home media room.  Each unit has a large outdoor terrace, including glass railing on the upper units. The two larger units, Sanctuary 2 and 3, have three bedrooms, a spacious ensuite complete with glass shower, and a large open-concept living/dining room with a 3-sided fireplace. Each unit has a two car garage.

The Sanctuary is an insulated concrete form building which has proven to be quite effective at retaining heat during the winter and keeping cool during the summer. It was found that during winter construction, an entire unit could be heated by a small portable space heater. In addition, every unit comes standard with a state-of-the-art Ecobee thermostat which provides intelligent heating and cooling and can be remotely controlled via the internet through PC or Smartphone.

Homeowners in the Sanctuary remark on its functional use of space, its low heating and cooling costs, as well as the lack of noise from adjoining units. The Sanctuary has received particular interest from age groups ranging from “empty-nesters” looking for something luxurious and low-maintenance, to Generation Xers who are looking for an “urban feel” in the comfort of Guelph.

Thomasfield Homes has been building new homes since 1978 in communities throughout Southwestern Ontario in Guelph, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Breslau, Burlington, Woodstock, Acton, Burgessville and Grand Valley.
